man facing sunset and the great wall of china

Every December, we remember a young woman who dealt with the burden of bringing the Gospel to China. Her name was Lottie Moon, and she invested her life in China, befriending, encouraging, testifying, and helping the people of China hear the good news of Jesus’ coming and rescue. The “Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions” begins with a week of prayer for people around the world. Each year, the International Mission Board publishes a guide for praying. Some of these will surprise you, but I ask you to use this as you spend time with the Lord over the next 7 days. Open your heart to see what God is up to in other countries and some of the innovative ways our missionaries connect with people who don’t know Jesus.

Along with that prayer time, we set aside December mission giving for international missions. That’s the Christmas offering I mentioned. In December, every undesignated “Missions” dollar you give goes toward that end–to support international missions. Many of you are thinking about special gifts for people you love, but the best gifts will wear out, go out of style, or be of diminishing interest to the recipients. But a mission’s gift will produce eternal results and eternal impact.

So, if you want to have impactful gifts, PRAY for those who are far from home (download the guide). Then, let’s GIVE, investing their lives to share the Gospel in other countries. And as you pray, allow God to impress on you how to support these precious men and women who give themselves daily to make Jesus known! Mark “Missions” or “Lottie Moon” on your missions section gift when you give online, or mark it on an offering envelope, and our staff will direct it accordingly.
