Security Standards

We understand that security is very important to you. We have taken the following steps in both the security of data that is transmitted across the internet and also the personal information that is stored in our databases. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to securely transfer your information across the internet to us. This technology encrypts the information you provide so it’s nearly impossible for anyone other than FBC Midlothian to read it. This technology is used whenever confidential information, such as your contact information, is transmitted. We use the highest industry standard for online security, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption, to secure your online sessions. This process safeguards your session from intruders. The Web application also encrypts sensitive data to conceal your personal identity.

Privacy

Planning Center Online, which we use for our database, event registrations, groups, check-ins, and giving, uses Stripe to process online giving payments and event registration payments. Any time you enter payment information (such as a credit card, a debit card, an ACH account, etc.) in a Planning Center application, it’s sent over an encrypted connection from your web browser directly to Stripe – one of the largest, most advanced payment processors in the world. They handle payment processing for services like Kickstarter, Lyft, Shopify, Pinterest, Twitter, Heroku, Survey Monkey, and many other companies. Once Stripe receives valid payment information, they then issue Planning Center with an encrypted “token.” Planning Center uses these tokens to create charges against those credit cards and bank accounts – even though Planning Center can’t access the full details of those payment methods. Planning Center can only fetch the basic information such as the last 4 digits, the type of payment method, its expiration date, and the customer’s name. The full account number or CVC number isn’t released to Planning Center. For more information about Planning Center please visit their security and privacy policy pages.

Cookies: Like many other sites, we use a technology called “cookies.” A cookie is an element of data that a Web site can send to your browser, which will be stored on your system. A cookie does not retrieve any data from your hard drive, carry computer viruses, or capture your e-mail address. Our Web site requires that you accept all cookies in order for the Web site features and security mechanisms to function fully. Once you terminate the browser application or “log off” our site, this session cookie will be deleted from your computer. Cookies must be enabled on the end user’s browser to enable proper functionality.

Photography and Videography

FBC Midlothian occasionally uses video and audio recorders and still photography cameras to capture activities in and around the church for internal and external promotional purposes. If you visit us, your image, whether on video or photography, may appear in produced media, social media, here on the website, and at FBC Midlothian.
