Who Is Woodrow?
You’ve heard of the kids game, “Where’s Waldo?” And it was brought to my attention after Sunday that I needed to identify who I’m referring to when I say, “Woodrow.” “Woodrow and I are parked on the other side of the bank,” I said. Woodrow is my truck. I figured that if my truck is going to last a decade and 200k of mileage, he deserves a name! My boat is “Barney” and my truck is “Woodrow.”
What’s the point (beside keeping everyone from thinking that I’m leaving a grandson in a parking lot and inviting a CPS investigation)?
The old “Cheers” sitcom was centered around a hunger for a place where “everybody knows your name.” To be seen, to be known, to matter is the hunger of every heart. The prayer drive project we introduced last week wasn’t about housing or subdivisions–it was about praying for PEOPLE. Until we know a name, until we hear a story, until we wade in, every one of those people are invisible to us. But they’re NOT invisible to God.
And His great plan was for His disciples to FIND people, LOVE people, and LEAD people to pursue HIM. That’s still HIS PLAN 2000 years on this side of the empty tomb.
