You Never Know When God Wants to Use You
It had been a frustrating morning. Car trouble usually produces that. I had been stranded, and only a YouTube video gave me the ability to get the car home. Then I had a wonderful experience trying to get warranty service from the dealer. After waiting an hour to check it in, an Uber driver picked me up at the curb for the ride home and back to work.
That’s when the blessing began. . .
My driver was a sweet lady who had only been working as an Uber driver for two days. We were both rookies (this was my first Uber experience). We chatted and swapped stories until we hit the traffic on 287 and the construction delays, so we took the “scenic” route through Sardis and began to wind through the countryside. She told me about her health, the recent changes that came with it, and I guided her through the labyrinth of turns and curves. All the while, she was getting the “why are you off route” call from Uber!
And as we finally pulled up at my destination, I decided to tip her more generously because I knew she needed it. And then she said, “Before you get out, would you pray for me?” I gladly said “yes!” And for just a few sweet moments, that car became a sanctuary of God’s peace. As I got out of the car and said, “Thank you for turning a frustrating morning into a blessing! You made my morning!”
And she did.
She was just embracing a new job. I was just trying to rush back to work without losing my temper. God used the woman to remind me what matters. And whether I was in the mood or not, God gave me a chance to comfort her with our conversation, laughter, and prayer.
You just never know when God wants to barge into your morning, your frustration, your need, or your busyness with blessing and use you to be a blessing. It reminded me: at all times, in all places, in all circumstances, HE IS. And He invites us into what HE is doing if we have ears to listen, hearts that are willing, and discernment to know when that time has arrived.
I needed that lesson today. Do you?
